Sarah Hanson
Senior Legislative Director
Sarah Hanson has been with Madison Government Affairs (MGA) since 2007. Prior to joining MGA, Ms. Hanson attended the University of Florida where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s in Political Science. While in school, she specialized in international relations, and received extensive instruction in legislative affairs, public opinion, and legal policy. She also served as an active member of Pi Sigma Alpha – a national collegiate Political Science Honor Society.
Since being employed at MGA, Ms. Hanson has worked on a wide variety of issues areas, including defense, transportation, health care, and economic development. She works with local governments, private businesses, and community organizations on current goals and strategic planning, with a focus on appropriations needs, local policy initiatives, and interaction with congressional offices. She is responsible for a number of legislative initiatives at MGA in support of a diverse client base.
Additionally, Ms. Hanson is responsible for an extensive amount of legislative research related to her assignments, the firm’s other lobbyists, and business development. This research includes the areas of local and regional community infrastructure, Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC), alternative energy initiatives, and general congressional information. She ensures that all House and Senate legislative reporting requirements relative to MGA, as well as individual lobbyists, are accomplished in a timely and succinct manner. She is also responsible for monitoring major authorization and appropriations bills coming out of the Congress.
Ms. Hanson is currently taking Graduate Classes at The George Washington University. She will be receiving a Master’s Degree in Legislative Affairs.
