Debra O. McInnis
Senior Manager

Ms. McInnis has over 21 years of public relations experience in the public sector and seven years working experience in the private sector. Ms. McInnis possesses in-depth familiarity of the Department of Defense, and has extensive knowledge of and experience with congressional and government relations, media relations, and community relations. She has participated in all levels of government including local, state, and federal.

Ms. McInnis came to Madison Government Affairs after serving as the Public Affairs Officer for the Naval Surface Warfare Center-Dahlgren Division, which is one of the Navy's and DOD's premiere RDT&E facilities. The Dahlgren Division is critical to providing technical warfighting capabilities for the present and future defense of the country. She was responsible for managing the public relations program for this $1.4 Billion organization. Ms. McInnis brings a first-hand knowledge of the Nations’ top Defense Programs and experience in developing and executing public relations and communications strategies for a number of major DOD and joint programs.

Debra also has many years experience working closely with local government, community, and business leaders; state government leaders; federal leaders, and elected officials. Her long-standing professional relationships and knowledge greatly contributed to the overall success of many critical public and government relations programs. She has provided public relations guidance and assistance to many government organizations. Ms. McInnis has served on State commissions, regional Chamber Boards of Directors, and has participated in strategic planning processes to help provide for the economic health of the region.

In addition to the hands-on experience in the defense public relations and communications process, she has extensive professional and formal education and training in all aspects of Public and Media Relations. She is a member of the International Public Relations Society of America.

Ms. McInnis resides in Caroline County, Virginia.
