Gov. Rick Scott, in France this week to attend the Paris Air Show to promote economic development in Florida, announced two new deals with aerospace industry businesses Tuesday to generate capital investment and add jobs to the state.

In the first, Austria-based Diamond Aircraft Industries, an aircraft manufacturing company, will expand its research-and-development program with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University students and faculty at its Daytona Beach campus.

“We are excited to grow our existing relationship with Diamond and to provide the opportunity for our students and faculty to get hands-on experience with such an innovative company,” said John Johnson, Embry-Riddle president .

In the second deal, the French aerospace and automotive supply firm Vision Systems will open its first U.S. subsidiary in Melbourne. Vision Systems will receive an undisclosed amount of state tax incentives to create 40 jobs in three years with an average annual wage of $40,555 and make a minimum capital investment of $1.2 million.

“I am thrilled that Vision Systems chose Melbourne for their first U.S. operations. With the creation of more than 330,000 private sector jobs in just over two years and an unemployment rate below the national average, our economic formula is working to create jobs and opportunities for families,” Scott said in a prepared statement.

Vision Systems chose Melbourne over sites in Georgia, North Carolina and Texas. The company is eligible for tax abatements of up to $55,870 from Brevard County and the city of Melbourne under the deal, but new tax revenue from construction upgrades and improvements is expected to exceed $61,600, according to the Space Coast Economic Development Council.
