Armagno Takes Helm at Patrick Air Force Base
PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE — Nina Armagno, who once served here as a squadron commander, today pinned on the star of a brigadier general and assumed command of the 45th Space Wing.“Maam, I assume command,” Armagno said to Lt. Gen. Susan Helms as she was passed the command flag from outgoing commander Brig. Gen. Anthony Cotton.
Airmen, community leaders, friends and three generations of Armagnos were present for the promotion and change of command ceremony at the base theater.
“We’re humbled and honored to have this command opportunity,” Armagno said. “I promise to build on the wonderful things you put in motion.”
As commander of the 45th Space Wing, Armagno is director of the Eastern Range and responsible for processing and launching government and commercial satellites from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
