Tim Johnson comes to Madison Government Affairs with over ten years experience working for the Federal Government and a non-profit organization.  Prior to working for MGA he spent the previous eight years as a political appointee in the Departments of Homeland Security and Agriculture. During the last four years, Mr. Johnson was Associate Director in the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Legislative Affairs.  In this role, he developed legislative strategy and served as a liaison between the senior leadership at DHS and congressional staff. His in-depth knowledge of the executive branch and homeland security in particular will be essential to improving and expanding the service Madison provides.

Prior to that, he worked in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Homeland Security Office.  He was responsible for organizing USDA’s role in national preparedness exercises involving the White House and other Government agencies. He also had the opportunity to speak with constituents around the country regarding agriculture security.

Before joining the Bush administration, Mr. Johnson was Deputy Director in the Finance Department of the Republican National Committee.  During his three years at the RNC, he helped raise over 20 million dollars through direct mail and telecommunication efforts while also participating in Get-Out-The-Vote activities in South Dakota, southeast Virginia and Michigan.

Mr. Johnson’s role at MGA will be to develop a homeland security practice focusing particularly on grants, infrastructure protection, cyber security and agriculture security.

A native of Morton, Washington, Mr. Johnson received his Bachelor’s Degree from Washington State University in 1997.
